Overview

Plan Change 15 was prepared to ensure Porirua's heritage is managed in an effective, practical and specific way for the benefit of current and future generations of Porirua residents. The plan change was identified within the Council's Heritage Management Strategy as a key step in achieving the sustainable management of the City's historic heritage.

Statutory Process

Plan Change 15 was publicly notified on 29 June 2012.  It replaced all previously existing heritage provisions within the district plan with a heritage-specific chapter.  The chapter includes:

  • Objectives, Policies, Rules, Assessment Criteria, Matters of Control/Discretion
  • Historic Heritage Schedule (Items and Statements of Significance)
  • Definitions
  • District Plan Map Updates

There were no appeals on Council’s decisions on public submissions.  Council adopted Plan Change 15 on 26 February 2014.  The plan change was made formally operative on 31 March 2014.
