Corrections Help Welcome

The clearing of overgrown weeds and grass exposed a fence that was not visible beforehand. As a consequence Porirua Corrections came to the party and used the services of offenders who were charged with tagging.

As a result the 49 metre fence was painted with the project name, “Whaia te ara tika/ Follow the right path project which took three days to complete.

Probation officer Bob Ramsey in charge of the group was happy with the outcome; the contribution of the offenders was a pleasant surprise.

Project manager Liana Leiataua was pleased with their input and adds, “when the gorse and weeds were cut down, there was this bare wall and I am really grateful that Corrections were on hand to help, as we had not planned to touch that fence, but with the fence clearly visible after the scrub clearing, it was awesome for them to contribute to the project”.
