Aotea Lagoon: Top 12 Tracks No. 9
This is a sheltered public park with a wide sealed 732 metre pathway around the lagoon. The pathway is ideal for wheelchairs, mobility scooters, prams, and children on trikes. There is an adventure fort and playground, a fenced toddlers' playground, and picnic areas close by to use while watching the children.
Ride around the lagoon on the model train which runs most fine Sundays, go for a wander in the rose garden or shade house, or test your fitness on the modern fitness stations around the lagoon perimeter. There is also a petanque area, and a smaller duck pond with a gated boardwalk over it. Bring your old bread to feed the ducks as they are always hungry.
It takes about 10 minutes to walk around the lagoon at a quick pace. Modern fitness stations are dotted along the pathway. The path is lit at night, so you can exercise after dark if you wish.
