Road Closures Status
This page lists the status of state highways, and main roads in Porirua City.
Porirua City Council compiles this list in conjunction with local roading authorities, emergency services and contractors. This list will be updated with road closures and openings as they come to hand.
All roads and state highways in Porirua City open except:
Scheduled roadworks from NZTA
Ongoing until end of March, from 7 pm - 5.30 am: The Mungavin southbound off-ramp from the state highway will be closed for asphalt resurfacing. Travellers will detour via the Titahi Bay southbound off-ramp which will be signposted. Please note that the wet weather forecast for earlier in the week may disrupt the week’s schedule and cause postponement of these works which will resume at the next available slot in the state highway works programme.
Tuesday 20 February, 7pm-5.30 am: Approach to Plimmerton roundabout - Southbound lane closure for resurfacing
Wednesday 21st February, 7pm-5.30 am: Pukerua Bay rail overbridge - stop/go traffic control for bridge joint replacements
Well-maintained roads are an important part of keeping people safe. While we aim to do this work with as little disruption as possible, we know that roadworks can be inconvenient.
Please drive carefully through work sites and stick to the temporary speed limits.
If you’re driving around the Wellington region, roadworks on the state highway network may affect your travel plans.
Please phone the Council on (04) 237 5089 to report any concerns in your street so we can respond.
- Check the AA Roadwatch website for details about roads, accident within New Zealand.
