Porirua Whanau Centre

Who are we?

Porirua Whanau Centre is a not-for-profit group and one of six family service centres in New Zealand. 

What do we do?

Mission Statement: "To provide culturally appropriate and integrated services that complements and enhances the health, social, education and economic well-being of Whanau."

The focus is on families with children from birth to 13 years old.

How can we help you?

There is a broad mix of services and they are delivered along the lines of a one stop shop.There are five family support services and they are:

  • Information, Advice/Advocacy
  • Parent Life Skills Programme
  • Holiday Programme
  • Education Programme
  • Counselling Programme

The Whanau Centre provides a home interaction programme for parents and youngsters called the Hippy Programme and they have a Childcare Centre for pre-school children. Some free services are provided by other agencies at the Whanau centre including:

  • Whitireia Community Law Centre
  • Childrens Ear Van
  • Inland Revenue Department
  • Work and Income
