Rates Payment Options

This pages describes the various options that you can use to pay your rates.

How can I pay my rates?

Direct Debit

You can pay your rates by regular weekly, fortnightly or monthly deductions, as well as by instalment. To set up a direct debit complete the EasyPay form and email or post it to Council.

Credit Card

MasterCard and Visa logos for online credit card payments for rates. You can pay your rates online using our credit card payment facility.

You will need your account number which you will find under the property details on your instalment notice.

Payments can be made using MasterCard or Visa credit cards.

Convenience Fee

It is important to note that the service provider charges you a convenience fee of 2.1% of your payment amounts with a minimum of $3.50. This fee is not charged by Council, but is a charge made by the Council's service provider.

This service is provided by Westpac New Zealand Ltd in agreement with Porirua City Council.

Porirua City Council does not receive any part of the online convenience fee.

If you do not wish to pay the convenience fee, please make your payment using one of the alternative payment methods listed below.

Telephone Banking and Internet banking, or Automatic Payment

You can phone your bank and they can set up PCC RATES as a 'Bill payment option'.

You will be asked for your six digit rate account number so be sure to have it on hand. This can be found at the top right-hand corner of your rates invoice or assessment.

EFTPOS, Cheque or Cash

Payments by EFTPOS, cheque or cash can be made at the Administration Building, 16 Cobham Court, or at NZ Post Shops.

Win up to $500 towards your rates

If you receive your rates invoices by email, you will be entered into a quarterly draw to win $350 credited to your rates account

If you receive your rates invoice by email AND pay your rates by direct debit, you will be entered into the quarterly draw and a chance for a further $150 credited to your rates account.
